The last few weeks have been brutal for any Phillies phan. It has to start looking ahead at the future of this ball club. While I have been very critical of Ruben over the last few months/years, I don't envy the position he is in. The best thing for this team may be a rebuild but the expectations that come with this team may not allow that to happen. He is being forced to put bandaids on each year and hope the team can get some lucky breaks.
The last thing I want to talk about or even hear about is Riley Cooper. The story has grabbed national headlines since it broke last Wednesday and has yet to quiet down. As a white man in America I have no clue as to the hurt and pain that word has caused in this situation and countless others for generations. The fact remains it is time to move on, time to forgive Riley Cooper.
I have always described baseball as the purest of sports. A timeless game that captures the hearts of little boys and old men alike. “America’s game.” From an early age I have loved this game. And from an early age the game has broken my heart but never has it disgusted me like it does right now.
