![]() The Eagles are in a transition right now as they will enter the offseason under new leadership with the hiring of Chip Kelly. It remains to be seen how much influence Chip will have but I hope Howie will defer a lot of the personal decisions to Kelly. There are still a lot of factors that will contribute to the shaping of the 2013 Eagles team. As of today, we still don’t know Kelly’s intentions at QB or if he will switch the defense to a 3-4. Yesterday I looked at how the current roster projects to the 3-4. So for now, I am going to assume they make the switch as I give my first Mock Off Season. Eagles Current Projected Cap room: -16.2 Million Projected Rollover from 2012 Cap: 19 Million Projected Cap Room before Cuts: 2.8 million (Check out EaglesCap.com and follow @EaglesSaleryCap for all of the latest Eagles Cap Related information! ) Pre Free Agent MovesCap CasultiesNnamdi Asomugha: 11.3 million Demetrius Bell: 9.7 million Mike Patterson: 4 million Total Savings: 21 million Restructured Contracts: Michael Vick: New Cap Number $6 million (10.9 million savings) Mike Patterson: New Cap number $2 million (2 million savings) Total Savings: 12.9 Million Projected New Cap Room: $36.7 Eagles Free AgentsDont Resign LB Akeem Jordan DE Daryl Tapp OT King Dunlap Restricted Free AgentsColt Anderson: (Tendered and Signs “Original Round Tender”): $1.323 M Unrestricted Free AgentsCB Dominique Rodgers Cromartie: 4 yrs 28 M It may seem like a lot for a corner who has been consistent but he has the tools to be an elite player. This is a little less than 49ers corner got last year and I would expect DRC to have about the same value. LS Jon Dorenbos: 3 yrs 2.4 M Dorenbus is one of the best Long Snappers in the game. It is not easy to find such a consistent performer at a underappreciated postion. DL: Derek Landri: 1 yr 3 M I thnk Landri can succeed as a 3-4 DE. They may want to use this money to find someone with more experenice in the 3-4 but I like Landri OL: Jake Scott: 1 yr .8M Scott filled in nicely last season and gives them quality depth at a low cost. Approximent Value Spent on own FA: 13 Million Total Cap Room after signing own FA: 23.7 Million Free AgencyDarius Byrd S: 5yr $40 Million Bryd is clearly the best safety on the market and the Eagles are in need of some talent at the position. He is just 26 and coming off of an all pro selection in 2012. If the Bills don’t resign him or designate him there franchise player, the Eagles would be stupid not to go after him. This is best case scenerio as the Bills have already reportadly reached out to him. But an upgrade at Saftey is a top priroity. Edit: I orginally had the Eagles sign Titans center Fernando Velcaso. But I later realized that he is a Retricted Free agent and he would cost the Eagles a draft pick if he is signed. Cap Room after FA: $16.7M My Pre Draft RosterOffense
QB: Vick, Foles, Edwards RB: McCoy: Brown, Lewis, Polk FB: Haveli WR: Jackson, Maclin, Avant, Cooper, Johnson TE: Celek, Harbor OL: Peters, Mathis, Kelce, Scott, Herremans, Watkins, Reynolds Defense NT: Dixon DE: Cox, Landri, Thorton, Landri OLB: Cole, Graham, Hunt, Curry ILB Kendrick, Ryans, Chaney, Matthews, Rau CB: DRC, Boykin, March, Hughes S: Bryd, Allen, Coleman, Anderson ST: Henrey, McBriar, Dorenbos I would suspect that Kelly would rather build his team through the daft than via FA. Its hard to tell how much Chip Kelly will want to overhaul the roster. Some coaches come in and want to completly retool the team to bring in "their guys", but I don't think that has to be done with this team. Despite a dissapointing 2012 season the Eagles have a lot of talent on this roster. Check back as I will take my first look at the 2013 NFL Draft Scott Glick
