![]() With the birth of Carlos Ruiz’s second baby yesterday in Panama it is safe to say that the Phillies catcher position is in good hands for decades to come. Chooch left camp yesterday to return home to witness the birth of his second son also named Carlos, his first sons name? Yes, you guessed it….Carlos. Sounds confusing yes, but not if you see it as Chooch Sr., Chooch Jr., and now we have Chooch the 3rd? So the way I see it when the legend himself Chooch is ready to hang up the cleats in 10 years Chooch Jr. will be ready to take over his duties. Give Junior a solid ten years behind the plate and that will be enough time for Chooch the 3rd to step in and take over. Sound like a plan Rube?!? You can never get enough Chooch or Chooches in one organization. And if you have ever seen Chooch hit, throw, or call a perfect game you darn well know he’s like a man among boys. A mythical legend that you only hear about in C.S. Lewis books. To put it in simpler terms, the man is a beast! It is only a given that these magical Chooch catching genes will be passed down to Chooch Jr. and Chooch the 3rd.
According to Todd Zolecki Chooch Jr. has been tearing it up in the Majors of the Panama Little League. We will be keeping a close eye on his progress. The new baby boy weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs, that is one big Chooch! Sounds like a catcher to me. Doc Halladay will most likely be the Godfather to Carlos. But enough kidding aside congratulations to Chooch and his wife on the birth of Carlos. Carlos is one lucky kid to have Carlos as his dad. Chooch is the most underrated player on the Phillies and has gone from Rod Barajas backup to legend status in Philly. Definitely a phan favorite in the City of Brotherly Love……….Choooooooooch! Chooch himself will be returning back to Clearwater on Friday.
