![]() As the Flyers dominate the headlines in Philly I can’t help but feel “the itch.” No it’s not a rare skin disease or bed bugs; it’s that itch that I start to feel in the middle of winter when I can smell spring in the air. The feeling that overwhelms me with sounds of the ball off the bat, CHOOOOCH, beer vendors, the crazy Cracker Jack girl, and the friendly voice of Dan Baker. Opening Day is on the way! Pitchers and catchers are now less than 3 weeks away from reporting with the first game vs. FSU on February 24th and Opening Day at Citizens Bank Park on April 1st. The countdowns are everywhere I turn with so much excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead in 2011. There is nothing like Opening Day, a feeling in sports that is unmatched. With warm weather on the horizon and a 162 game plus season taking flight the butterflies in my stomach float around like Navy Seals headed for The Bank. This year’s Opening Day ticket is going to be a hefty one with Standing Room Only tickets going for over $100 on StubHub. I don’t think you can put a price on being at The Bank come April 1st, I will be there rain or shine, blizzard or hurricane, 100 or 300 dollars!
So ladies and gents, Phillie phans of all ages: get your glove out from under your bed, your grill out of storage, your tailgating truck out of the garage, your lucky Opening Day jersey out of the closet. Baseball is on the way! Your 2011 Phillies are about to take off on the season of all seasons. A year filled with “High Hopes,” an unmatched rotation, and a World Series Championship!
