2012 was not the year of the bullpen for the Philadelphia Phillies. It wasn't the year of much on the 40-man roster. With a pen that conisted of arms like Jose Contreras, David Herndon, Mike Stutes, and Chad Qualls (ugh) in early April. By late summer those names had dramatically changed due to ineffectivness and injuries. Up sprang and influx of young, new arms.
If the Phillies are going to get back to being a playoff, NL East contending team, the bullpen has got to improve. Back in 2008 during our World Series Championship run the bullpen was downright dominate. Closer Brad Lidge was perfect and the rest of the pen not far behind posting a 3.22 ERA, ranking them 2nd in all of baseball. Last year the Phillies pen floundered in the bottom five. Here are 5 guys who I believe will make considerable contributions to the Phillies bullpen in 2013 and put them back in the top ten of pens in all of baseball.
