Going to a baseball game is great thing by itself. But it helps if there is a little incentive to go along with your ticket. The consecutive sellout streak that the Phillies had is not a normal thing in baseball. Most team's have to really work to get people to come to the games. Each season the Phillies give out all sorts of great giveaways everything from a bobble-head to a knit cap to nice t-shirt. Besides the nice giveaways the Phillies also have other promotions to bring the masses to the ball park.
I first want to state that I'm disappointed that the Phillies didn't continue the Pennent giveaway on Opening day that have done over the last 5 seasons. I know they couldn't have done one for last season. But a 1980 Red World Championship banner would have been amazing! I've taken a look at the Phillies schedule and I'm going to list the top 5 Phillies promotions of 2013.

1. June 4th vs Miami: Carlos Ruiz Bobble Head
CHOOOOOOOOCH!! With all of the star power the Phillies have had over the last few seasons, I think Chooch might be the biggest phan phavorite! Everyone loves Chooch and its about time he had his own bobble-head. I'm also a bobble-head phanatic and have quite a collection: everything from Steve Carlton to Ryan Howard to Jimmy Rollins to Jamie Moyer. Not only are they free, but I think they are better quality than you would buy in the Phillies store. The combination of Chooch and a bobble head make June 4th a must go!
Other Bobble-head Giveaways: Wedneday August 21 vs the Rockies
2. August 2 vs Atlanta: Alumni Night
Alumni night is always one of the best nights at the ball park all season. It is great to see all of the Phillies greats return to the ballpark. The opportunity alone to see Hall of Famers like Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton and past phan phavorites like John Kruk, Darren Daulton, Bob Boone and Gary Maddox is worth the price of admission. Before the game its like a trip down memory lane seeing all the old Phils march onto the field. But its not just Saturday night, the entire Alumni weekend is amazing!
3. Dollar Dog nights
I know it isn't a specific game, but how can you not love Dollar Dog Nights! The price of food at a ball park is always outrageous, so getting a bargain at the ball park is always great. Chase returned to the lineup in 2011 on a Dollar Dog Night. With the Phillies struggles at the plate and the cheap price for a dog, I thought it would be fun if I would eat 1 dollar dog for every run the Phillies scored. The Phillies scored 2 runs in the 1st two innings and I was cofidnet I could keep up the pace. But a 7 RUN 3rd inning was enough KO me! The Phillies finished the game with 10 runs and I was only able to muster up 7 dogs. I'm not sure if it was the return of Chase to the lineup or the Phillies trying to make me eat 10 dogs. But it made for an enjoyable game!
2013 Dollar Dog Nights:
Tuesday April 9 (Mets), Monday April 22 (Pirates), Monday June 17 (Nationals), Monday August 19 (Rockies), Monday September 2 (Nationals), Monday September 16 (Marlins)
4. April 6 vs Kanas City: Jimmy Rollins Replica Trophy (Children 14 and Under)
I'm not sure if it just looks that cool in the picture, or if it is really that amazing. Just take a look the picture and tell you me you wouldn't love to have it! It seems as though a lot of the best giveways are to Children under 14. First you had the Carlos Ruiz chest protector Book Bag, the Phanatic face t-shirt, the Roy Halladay FatHead Jr and now this! But it is agood thing to give the kids another reason to come to the ballpark. Its important to continue to build the fan base and keep the younger generation interested in the greatness that is the game of baseball. But it won't stop me from being jelous.
5. September 22 vs Mets: Fan Appreciation day
I will admit it, fan appreciation day is always better when the Phillies are headed to the playoffs. It is just a pre post season party as opposed to the a sad ending to the seaosn. But even if the team's season is ending, Fan appreciation day is great on its own. The Phillies have tons of giveaways between each inning giving away everything Phillies you could think off. I have to admit one of my favorite things is booing when someone in a suite wins a prize!
